Going towards your dream all-in without any hedging (i.e. burning all your boats) is beautiful. It shows your determination and makes your life story remarkable whether you succeed or not. By definition, however, it is also extremely risky. On the other hand, hedging your dream by simultaneously taking a safer, more widely accepted path, reduces the risk of extremely negative outcome. Yet it also reduces the beauty and remarkability of your life story.
