When i was in high school, crazy about soccer, there was this kind of people that i looked down upon: those who wore bloody flashy red nikes the first time they were in the field, swaggering like superstars while knowing next to nothing about the rules…
And then the kind of people i admired… those who played bare-feet, battling out in the field day-in and day-out… always willing to share and teach… and always beat the sh*t out of everybody else…
[btw, i wasn’t one of them, i wore cheap sneakers sometimes…]
So, what am I tryin’ to say here? The lesson i learned…
Equipment, however sophisticated it is, ONLY helps improve our performance, never shaping our core skills. It helps us feel better, never really help us win.
They may make you look cool… but it takes so much more to make you respectable.
