Or “The Best Politician vs The Greatest Saint”
The Best Politician
You criticize, scorn at, make fun of, protest against him when he is in the news. You can’t remember how many bad things he’s done, for his self-interest and political career, to your hometown, friends, and family. However, when he stands in front of you, face-to-face, and talks to you in-person in such a charismatic way, you are totally conquered and would agree with whatever he proposes. Suddenly you become a fan, and you can even stab your friend in the chest for this politician, while protesting in a loving smile, “you’re such a jerk!”.
The Greatest Saint
You marvel, admire, praise, and regard her as role model when the press published a special report on her remarkable life, because of her recent departure. However, if she had invited you to join her in the movement with your talent and energy, you would have said,”sorry i’m very busy, do you need regular donor?”. Thousands of people appeared at her funeral; but when she was alive, doing the humble, dirty yet important work out there, suffering from humiliation, persecution and physical danger, she was often alone. You want your kids to look up to her and make her (and not Lady Gaga) their idol, but you never want your kids to follow her footsteps to a great, yet unthinkably tough life.
Now you know why we have so many more politicians than saints in this world.
